Lucille M. Witmer, age 84 years, of Archbold, passed away early Thursday morning, Feb. 18, 2016, at The Toledo Hospital.
She was born Nov. 16, 1931, at Salem, Ohio, the daughter of Marcus and Estella (Schloneger) Detwiler, and married Warren Witmer on May 2, 1952.
She lived at Columbiana, Ohio, and later at Poolesville, Md., before moving to Archbold.
She was a homemaker, and enjoyed traveling, baking pies, reading, and spending time with her family.
She was a member of Dawsonville Mennonite Church at Poolesville, Md., and attended Zion Mennonite Church in Archbold.
She is survived by her husband, Warren; four children, Dennis Witmer of Silver Spring, Md., Joyce (Mark) Nafziger of Archbold, Marlene Wilhelm of Homer City, Pa., and Gerald (Marlene) Witmer of Poolesville, Md.; a son-in-law, Dale Wenger of Columbiana; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Ellis (Caroline) Detwiler of Harrisonburg, Va., Kenneth (Marlene) Detwiler of Youngstown, Richard Detwiler of Salem, John (Cheryl) Detwiler of Yuma, Tenn., and David (Nancy) Detwiler of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Lorene (Marty) Ruby of Columbiana, and Janice (James) Ziegler of Dalton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cheryl Wenger; and three brothers, Dale, Donald, and Rollin Detwiler.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 4 p.m., at the Zion Mennonite Church. Friends may call at the church from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Private burial will be in the Midway Mennonite Church Cemetery at Columbiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Lucille’s memory to: Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), Wycliffe Bible Translators, or Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF).
