Lucille M. Short, age 101 years, of Archbold, passed away early Thursday morning, Feb. 14, 2013, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
She was born Jan. 8, 1912, in Pettisville, the daughter of William and Sarah (Beck) Lantz.
She married Jesse L. “Chalkey” Short on Sept. 20, 1933, and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2005.
A lifelong resident of the Archbold/Pettisville area, she was a homemaker.
She was a charter member of the Zion Mennonite Church in Archbold, where she spent many hours quilting.
She was also a charter member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Fulton County Hospital in Wauseon.
She is survived by three children, James L. (Barbara) Short of Archbold, Lynda Rychener of Glendale, Ariz., and Gregory A. Short of Archbold; two daughters-in-law, Maggie Short and Suzette (Rollin) Nafziger, both of Archbold; a son-in-law, Marlin Riegsecker of Upland, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Terry Short and Larry Short; a daughter, Nancy Riegsecker; a son-in-law, Tom Rychener; one grandson, Brent Short; one brother, William H. Lantz; one sister, Myrtie Murphy.
A memorial service was held Monday at 11 a.m. at Zion Mennonite Church with Pastor Jeff Kauffman officiating. Interment at Pettisville Cemetery preceded the service.
Short Funeral Home in Archbold was entrusted with the arrangements.
