Local Man Indicted For Tampering With Evidence




Simon D. Roth, 18, Archbold, was indicted by a Fulton County Grand Jury for allegedly tampering with evidence, Monday, May 21.

Roth was one of 15 persons indicted by the grand jury.

The charge stems from an April 30 incident in which Archbold police located a vehicle at the Archbold Reservoir about 9:11 pm.

Two subjects, Roth and a 17-year-old Archbold boy, were in the vehicle, along with drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The police report states one suspect swallowed some narcotics. Both were arrested, and Roth was charged with possession of drugs and tampering with evidence. He was released on his own recognizance.

In a press release, Scott Haselman, Fulton County prosecuting attorney, said, “On or about April 30, he allegedly tampered with evidence in an official proceeding or investigation.”

Also among those indicted was Matthew Welch, 45, Archbold. He was indicted on a single count of grand theft. The charge against Welch was profiled in last week’s issue of this newspaper.

Others indicted:

•Mark J. Murar, 50, Lyons; indicted on one count, illegal manufacture of drugs; on or about Feb. 4, allegedly manufactured hashish.

•Robert B. Ringler II, 48, Wauseon; indicted on one count, possession of heroin; on or about Feb. 24, allegedly possessed heroin.

•Derek R. Apger, 28, Fayette; indicted on one count each, aggravated burglary, burglary, trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, aggravated menacing, assault, criminal damaging; on or about April 29, allegedly trespassed in an occupied structure when a person was present with purpose to commit a criminal offense; allegedly inflicted, attempted, or threatened to inflict physical harm on that person; allegedly caused substantial risk of physical harm to another’s property.

•Olivia G. Ladd, 18, Wauseon; indicted on one count each, burglary, trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present; on or about May 3, allegedly trespassed in an occupied structure with purpose to commit a criminal offense.

•Kyliah M. Wallace, 21, Wauseon; indicted on one count, possession of cocaine; on or about Feb. 11, allegedly possessed cocaine.

•David A. Lantz, 38, Oakwood; indicted on ten counts, pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor, 11 counts, pandering obscenity involving a minor; on or about March 18-April 14, 2017, allegedly knowingly purchased or possessed obscene material that showed a minor participating in sexual activity.

•Lawrence R. Marowelli, 31, Pioneer, indicted on one count, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, two counts, aggravated menacing; on or about May 13, allegedly knowingly had a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle; allegedly knowingly caused two people to believe that he would cause serious physical harm to them.

•Andrew J. Peters, 26, Stryker; indicted on one count each, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer; on or about May 12, allegedly operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol; allegedly failed to stop motor vehicle after receiving a visible or audible signal from a police officer, after allegedly causing a substantial risk of serious physical harm to persons or property.

•Augustine A. Chapa, 30, Wauseon; indicted on one count each, trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, aggravated burglary, having weapons while under disability; on or about April 7, allegedly trespassed in an occupied structure with a deadly weapon when a person was present or likely to be present; allegedly possessed a firearm when he was not relieved from disability and while under indictment for a felony offense of violence.

•Richard A. Goble, 30, Defiance; indicted on one count each, theft, misuse of credit cards; on or about Oct. 13-16, 2017, allegedly stole a credit card and allegedly used it to purchase property valued between $1,000-$7,500.

•Amber L. Clark, 33, Napoleon, indicted on one count each, theft, misuse of credit cards; on or about Oct. 13-16, 2017, allegedly stole a credit card; allegedly used card to purchase property valued between $1,000-$7,500.

•Courtney N. Taylor, 22, Van Wert; indicted on one count each, identity fraud, theft; on or about Jan. 12-13, 2017, allegedly used the personal identifying information of another with intent to hold herself to be the other person; allegedly stole property valued between $1,000-$7,500.

•Nicholas D. Hasty, 26, Swanton; indicted on one count, domestic violence; on or about April 13, allegedly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to a family or household member.
