Jeremy L. Litchfield, 24, Archbold, faces criminal charges in addition to an indictment handed down against him last month.
The grand jury met Tuesday, Dec. 18, and indicted Litchfield on two counts of theft from an elderly person or disabled adult, for allegedly taking more than $960 in cash and jewelry from Joan Bragg, Archbold.
Litchfield was also the subject of a Tuesday, Jan. 8 police report.
Lawrence E. Cunningham, 39, Archbold, told officers his wife parked his pickup truck at the Circle K store about 6:27 pm that night.
Cunningham, who was in a second vehicle, said when his wife went inside, a person got into the pickup and tried to take his GPS navigation unit.
Cunningham told officers he confronted the suspect and got his GPS unit back. The suspect fled east along the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks.
Police later issued Litchfi eld a summons to appear charging him with theft. An aluminum flashlight was taken from Litchfield and booked as evidence.
The following day, Wednesday, Jan. 9, police went to a residence in the 400 block of South Defiance Street, where they arrested Litchfield on a warrant connect with the indictment.
When Litchfield was taken into custody, the police report indicates he had two packets of a controlled substance. In addition to the felony charges in the indictment and the theft charge, he was also charged with possession of drugs, a minor misdemeanor.
He was taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio. As of late Friday, Jan. 11, he was incarcerated at CCNO.
