The Archbold Board of Zoning Appeals granted a zoning variance to Frozen Specialties, Inc., to construct an addition onto the north side of its plant.
The board okayed the variance at its Thursday, April 18 meeting.
Tom Franz, director of maintenance, and Brian Replogle, plant manager, said the plant is changing its system for handling flour.
With the change, there is no room for the industrialsize sifter in the main building plus room to walk around the machine.
Therefore, the company plans to build an addition that will extend nine feet from the current north wall. It will be 12 feet wide.
The variance was required because the north wall of the addition will be 38 feet from the company’s north property line, too close under the zoning code.
Board members Brad Roth, Brad Short, and Rich Winzeler voted in favor of granting the variance. Tim Ziegler and Tim Smith, board members, were absent.
