Lincoln Street Work Could Be Done Soon

The North Lincoln Street- East Williams Street reconstruction project, already more than a month behind schedule, could be done soon.

Bob Seaman, Archbold village engineer, said Monday, Oct. 15 that workers from Brooks Contracting, Perrysburg, laid the first two of three layers, or courses, of asphalt last week.

Now they must do the final adjusting of manholes in the street before the final course of asphalt can be applied.

While the work is dependent on the weather, Seaman said he anticipated crews would be done with the manholes by today, Wednesday, Oct. 17.

The manholes must be ad- justed so they match the final height of the road surface- so they are neither above the road, or below.

Workers have already started doing restoration of topsoil around the project area and seeding those areas, he said.

The road is open, and residents can access their driveways now, he said.

The company’s contract with the village included a provision for a penalty to be paid if the project was not completed on time.

Seaman said in the past the engineering department determines how much construction time was lost due to delays caused by other companies, and how much of the delay was caused by adverse weather conditions.

The actual fine, if any, will be based on those factors, he said.- David Pugh
