Archbold students Katelyn Liechty and Emma Krukowski won their grade levels at the Fulton County Spelling Bee, Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center.
Liechty is a fourth grader. Krukowski is in sixth grade.
Ryan Bishop, a Pettisville student, won the fifth grade competition, with Blaney Huffman, Archbold, finishing third.
Emily VanDenBerghe, a Pettisville seventh grader, was third. In eighth grade, Kyle Hageman, Archbold, was second.
Koalten Manz, an Archbold seventh grader, participated, but did not place in the top three. Participating from Pettisville were Mina Wesche, eighth grade; Macy Hoylman, sixth grade, and Carson Andres, fourth grade.
To advance to the county spelling bee, students had to win in their grades at school building-level competition.
The winners advance to the Northwest Ohio Championship Spelling Bee at Owens Community College, Saturday, March 14.
