Library Clerk-Treasurer To Retire After 14 Years

Marilyn Freytag, clerk treasurer of the Archbold Community Library, will retire, Nov. 30, 2007. She has been with the library 14 years.

Freytag’s resignation was accepted by board members at the Monday evening, Sept. 17 meeting.

During the 40-minute special meeting, board members discussed the position with Freytag and how to advertise for a replacement.

Freytag said anyone who applies for the job needs to be familiar with the government ac- counting process, reporting both expenses and income, and computer entry. Freytag handles the library investments that include certificates of deposit with local banks and some stock investments.

In recent years the library has received stock and large sums of money from several estates.

According to the clerk, her library job requires about 24 hours a week. Among her duties are payroll, investments, and computer accounting. Freytag has seen more responsibilities added to the job over the years.

The clerk/treasurer salary has increased to $20,475.22 before taxes.

Advertisements for a new clerk/treasurer will appear in Archbold, Wauseon, Napoleon, and Defiance newspapers. Deadline for resumes is Oct. 12.

Jed Grisez, president, said, “We will certainly miss Marilyn. She has been given many responsibilities over the years. We need to find someone, so she can train the new clerk before she leaves.”

Freytag said, “I am looking forward to doing a number of things at home.”
