The Archbold Community Library Board granted a 2.5% wage hike to almost all employees during its Wednesday, Dec. 12 meeting.
Jennifer Harkey, library fiscal officer, said the wage hike won’t apply to Julie St. John, Stryker.
St. John was hired at the December meeting to become the library custodian. She replaced Glora Belle Yoder, who retired.
Leah Fruth, Archbold, will join the library board as the newest member. She replaces Sandy Wyse, whose term expired.
The Archbold Area School Board approved Fruth’s appointment at its Monday, Dec. 17 meeting.
Harkey said Fruth is a frequent user of the library.
The board adopted policy changes, adding vacation time for part-time staff members. The calculation of vacation time will be based on the number of hours the employee worked the previous year.
Also, the board approved adding an eight-hour personal day for full-time workers. Part-time workers will receive four hours of personal time.
The policy changes also defi ned library workers as “atwill” employees, who may be hired or fired.
Computer training will return to the library in January.
JoAnne Rupp, a former Archbold Middle School teacher, will teach a free class on Microsoft Word on, Tuesday, Jan. 15, and Thursday, Jan. 17, from 10 am until noon.
A second session of the same class will be offered Saturday, Jan. 19, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
