Library Board Conducts Closed Meeting To Review Clerk/Treasurer Candidates

With all members present at its Monday evening meeting, Oct. 15, the Archbold Library Board considered applications for a library clerk-treasurer position.

Jed Grisez, board president, said the board received “a number of applications” for the position.

The applications were reviewed in executive session, a closed private meeting. Ohio law allows a public board to go into a closed meeting for a limited number of reasons, one being personnel matters.

At the board’s Sept. 17 meeting, Marilyn Freytag, library clerk-treasurer, announced her resignation/retirement, effective Nov. 30, 2007. She joined the library staff 14 years ago.

Grisez called a special board meeting for Monday, Oct. 22, 7 p.m. at the library. He anticipates the board will vote on a new clerk-treasurer during the meeting.

During the September meeting, board members agreed the new clerk-treasurer should have the opportunity to work with Freytag during November.

John Emch, board member, announced he will retire from the board at the end of the year. Grisez asked board members to provide names of persons living in the Archbold School District that might be interested in joining the board.
