Library Board Approves 3% Raise For Employees

With one trustee absent, Monday evening, the Archbold Community Library Trustees unanimously approved a three-percent wage increase for library employees. Excluded from the increase are new employees.

The board considered one-, two-, or three-percent wage increases.

Joyce Klingelsmith, library director, said the library received a check for $6,901.68 from the State of Ohio. The money is from the CAT (Commercial Activities Tax) and personal property taxes. Due to a state law change, Klingelsmith said the library finances have suffered a reduction of levy dollars.

Emch’s Last Meeting

John Emch, a seven-year member of the board, attended his last board meeting. He announced his retirement from the board earlier this year.

Board members approved the appointment of John Bamonte to replace Emch. A retired educator, Bamonte taught elementary classes in Archbold and Delta. He was also a school administrator in the Delta school system. He and his wife, Virginia, now reside in Archbold.

Laura Hutchison, Pioneer, library clerk treasurer, was named recording secretary for the board and records manager for the library. She recently joined the library staff, replacing Marilyn Freytag, who left the library staff in November.

The board had a 40-minute closed-meeting executive session to discuss pay increases. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.

They did not set a date for a January meeting.
