Leslie Jo Aschliman, age 32, of Bolingbrook, Ill., defeated cancer at 9:15 CDT, July 26, 2008.
Leslie is survived by her husband, Tyson Aschliman (son of Lynn and Joan Aschliman), formerly of Archbold; a son, T.J. (2); parents Steve and Vicki Bucher (Washington, Ill.), and siblings Dana Anliker (Wheaton, Ill.), Chris Bucher (Indianapolis, Ind.), Dan Bucher (Washington, Ill.), and Cody Bucher (Washington, Ill).
Over the past ten months of her battle, she and her husband, Tyson, have processed their thoughts in a blog (forleslie. blogspot.com).
The following is taken from Tyson’s posting following her victory.
“Those that know her understand that she is actually a rather ‘private’ person- better in small intimate settings. For the most part, a woman of few, albeit wellthought out, words. (We balanced each other well, that way.)
“But her response [to the question of whether or not we should continue posting blog entries when things were getting especially personal] was this: ‘Maybe I should worry about how many people know so much about me and this journey. But people have been encouraged. Lives have been changed. God has been glorified. This is the purpose and life that God has set before me. I’m going to keep living it until I’m at the finish line.'”
With those thoughts there is not much left to say other than, Leslie has fought the good fight, and won.
Leslie was a loving mother and wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her head thrown back in laughter, eyes grinning shut, will be the dominant image in the minds of those who knew her best.
Memorial services celebrating her life will be held in Washington, Ill., Bolingbrook, Ill., and Archbold. Times and dates are yet to be determined.
