Leroy J. “Bill” Dominique

Leroy J. “Bill” Dominique, age 75 years, of Archbold, passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 3, 2008, at the Archbold Hospital.

He was born Jan. 7, 1933, at Archbold, a son of Leander “French” and Florence (Flory) Dominique, and married Sue Smith on Nov. 11, 1952.

A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he worked for the Village of Archbold for 33 years, many of them as Superintendent of the Street Department, and since retirement worked in maintenance at Sauder Village for 12 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Archbold, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7552, and member of the American Legion B.L.W. Post 311.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; two sons, Marty (Joyce) Dominique of Orland Park, Ill., and Frenchy Dominique of Archbold; two daughters, Jenny Graber of Archbold, and Bonnie Dominique of Stryker; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Elmer “Shorty” (Rosie) Dominique, Allen Dominique, and Jerry Dominique, all of Archbold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Daryl Graber; and a brother, Vearl Dominique.

Services were held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Gary Ferguson officiating. Interment followed in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery with military rites by American Legion B.L.W. Post 311.

The family suggests that memorials be given to Hands of Grace or the Fulton County Senior Center.

Short Funeral Home in Archbold was in charge of the arrangements.
