Leah Lehman, daughter of Eric and Marcia, Archbold, is participating in a Goshen (Ind.) College Study-Service Term in Senegal this summer with 22 other students.
A 2007 Archbold High School graduate, she is a senior majoring in social work. She left for Senegal April 28 and returns July 27.
Goshen established an SST unit in the French-speaking West African country in 2004. This is the fourth unit to go to the country.
Students will live in Thiès, east of the capital, for the first half of the 13-week term, then move into other areas of the country for service assignments.
The students will study the history, art, literature, religion and other features of the Senegal society as they interact with Senegalese host families.
Students will also visit Goree Island, which was once one of the major embarking points for slave ships.
