Lee (Leland) William Hesterman, age 91, of Archbold, was called home to Heaven, Monday morning, Oct. 30, 2017, at Fairlawn Haven Care Center, Archbold.
He was born May 17, 1926, to Herman and Helen (Hainke) Hesterman in Napoleon, and because of concern for him not surviving the night because of birthing complications, he was also baptized by the delivery nurse that very same night.
He married Dorothy V. (Berry) on Nov. 26, 1953, and she preceded him in death in February 1989.
Lee was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners, where over the years he served at various times as Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher.
He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and His Church and its members.
Lee lived most of his life in Ridgeville Corners, but the last 24 years were lived in Archbold with Margaret.
He worked at various jobs over the years, including 25- plus years at Automatic Feed Co. in Napoleon, where he retired in 1988.
Although he worked in garages and factories, his real passion was farming. Lee enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including fishing, woodworking craft building, carving, and, of course, golfing (his favorite).
Lee loved spending time with friends and family who enjoyed his warm heart and great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Margaret I. (Berry) Hesterman; children, Steve and Debbie (Garrett) Hesterman, Mike and Sandra (Hawkins) Hesterman; grandchildren,
Shane and Ashley Hesterman, Stacy and Philip Pogue, John and Julie Hesterman, Amber Kerley and Greg Lopez, James Hesterman; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Mallory, Payton, Alex, Miller, Eleanor, Seth and Wynn; and step great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins; siblings, Marjory (Reese), Norma Jean (Brandt), Victor.
He was preceded in death by both parents; first wife Dorothy of 35 years; two brothers, Laurence and Dale; one daughter, Kay; one son, Jerry; and one great-grandson, Canaan.
Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 2, at Short Funeral Home, 500 N. Defiance St., Archbold, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Services will be Friday, Nov. 3, at Zion Lutheran Church, 20-141 Co. Rd. X, Ridgeville Corners, at 11 a.m., with a viewing from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. www.Short FuneralHome.com.
