The Archbold municipal income tax collection for March was up more than a quarter of a million dollars over the same month in 2015.
But Dennis Howell, village administrator cautioned village council to take the number with some skepticism.
During the Monday, April 4 village council meeting, Howell told council a change in stage law “at the behest of the state legislature” changed how businesses must report their withholding.
In the past, businesses could report their withholding quarterly.
That has changed to monthly, Howell said.
The municipal income tax collection for March was $404,757.91, up $276,006.33, or 214%, over the March 2015 collection.
Howell told council he believes the increase is probably about half of the $276,000 number, or about $138,000.
Between Jan. 1 and March 31, the 1.5% Archbold municipal income tax has raised $1,460,380.15.
