Kiss A Pig! Kiss A Pig!

Top left: To thunderous chants of “Kiss A Pig,” Dorothy Lambert, Archbold Elementary School principal, kisses a pig during a special assembly closing Right To Read Week, Friday, May 14. The week’s theme was “Down On The Farm.” Lambert challenged students to ready 46,000 minutes from Monday to Friday; if they did, she promised that she would kiss a pig. The students met and exceeded the goal, reading 54,825 minutes. Top right: Jeff Benecke, a fourth grade teacher, puckers up for a kiss. Teachers of the classes in each grade who read the most during the week learned they would be kissing the pig, too. Holding the pig is its owner, Chris Ott. Bottom left: Second graders D’Andre Lavia and Olivia Villanueva scream after finding out the reading goal was met and that Mrs. Lambert would have to kiss the pig.– photos by Mary Huber
