King Explodes For 29 Points, Leads Birds Past Edgerton



Erica King scored only 14 points from the field, but sank 15 free throws to lead Pettisville (5-3) past Edgerton 54-48, Saturday, Jan. 2.

Edgerton sent the Birds to the foul line 39 times in the contest. PHS connected on 26 for 67%. The Bulldogs were 4-7 from the foul line for 57%.

Pettisville was 13-40 from the field for 33%. Edgerton was 20-40 for 50%.

“I thought we played well defensively and controlled the boards fairly well,” said Jason Waldvogel, PHS head coach. “Our pressure got to them as the game progressed.

“We did a nice job of getting to the free throw line and converting.”

Edgerton led 16-12 after the first period, but Pettisville outscored the Bulldogs 12-5 in the second for a 24- 21 halftime lead. The second half stayed tight, with Pettisville scoring 30 points and Edgerton, 27.

Pettisville out-rebounded Edgerton 30-24, and committed only eight turnovers to the Bulldogs’ 18.
