Kenneth F. Grieser

Kenneth F. Grieser, age 94 years, of Defiance, passed away Tuesday evening, July 31, 2007, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, where he had resided since April 20, 2007.

He was born Nov. 27, 1912 near Tedrow, a son of Albert and Priscilla (Vonier) Grieser. He married Doris Rupp on March 1, 1934, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 1990.

An Archbold area resident until 1970 when he moved to the Defi- ance area, he with his wife owned and operated the former Kenny’s Station near Archbold from 1934 to 1959, and was also an auctioneer and real estate broker, and since has been involved in harness racing. He sponsored and managed the Archbold Buckeye baseball team in the late 1940s and early 1950s. He was a member of Crossroads Evangelical Church in Wauseon, the U.S. Trotting Assoc., and Northwest Ohio Colt Racing Assoc.

He is survived by one son, Kennard “Sonny” (Saundra) Grieser of Defiance; two daughters, Delight (Orville) Fricke and Joyce “Tootie” (Merle) Seiler, both of Archbold; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; six step-greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Rutheda Stuckey of Archbold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a granddaughter, Marcia Dee Fricke; two brothers, Royal Grieser and Wayne Grieser; two sisters, Glada Zuercher and Edith Wyse.

Services were on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Evangelical Church with Pastor Matt Boyers officiating. Interment followed in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Short Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
