Kart, Mini-Sprint Racing Results

Area kart racers had more success the weekend of May 23- 24-25 than May 30-31-June 1.

Kyle DeKnight, 12, Pettisville, ran in two classes at the dirt track near Edon, Saturday, May 31. He was eighth in the junior gold restrictor plate class feature race, then second in box stock class feature.

Danielle Frey, Pettisville, who also ran box stock that night, was fourth in the feature.

Graeme Short, 10, Archbold, was the second-fastest qualifier in the 250cc restricted mini sprints on the dirt at Jackson, Mich., Saturday, May 31.

He was the second fastest qualifier, fourth in the heat race, and third in the feature.

Other Archbold racers were planning to run at Ft. Wayne, Ind., but were rained out.

Nofziger Wins


At Jackson on Friday, May 23, Vance Nofziger, Pandora and formerly of Archbold, won his first feature race.

Running in senior heavy on the concrete oval, Nofziger went out and set fast time for the class, then won both the heat and the feature.

John Huffman, veteran Archbold kart racer, was also in senior heavy that night. He was second fastest qualifier, third in the heat, and second in the feature.

Frey raced in the senior econo class at Jackson. The defending class points champ swept, setting fast time and winning her heat and feature.

Jeremy Mann, 12, Archbold, won the junior econo class feature, after setting fast time and finishing second in his heat.

Dirt Oval


On the dirt track near Edon on Saturday, May 24, Marissa Beck, 10, Pettisville ran the Junior II Champ karts. These are racing karts with full roll cages. She finished ninth in her feature.

Kyle Beck, 12, Pettisville, ran junior champ kart, and was eighth in his feature.

He also raced in the junior restricted class and finished eighth.

Kyle DeKnight, 12, Pettisville, was sixth in junior restricted, then was second in the box stock class.

Mike Overmier, Archbold, won the senior medium class feature. He won one heat race, and was third in another.
