Karen Nofziger

Karen Nofziger, daughter of Dean and Janeth Nofziger, was born on March 12, 1959, and died suddenly on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, while on Christmas vacation in Wauseon.

Karen taught sixth, seventh, and eighth grade math at Penn View Christian School in Souderton, Pa., for 32 years.

She also was very knowledgeable about computers and often helped people out of jams when their computers malfunctioned.

After hours, Karen kept stats for soccer and basketball games.

However, Karen was not only a math teacher, she also was creative. Karen knew how to crochet, knit, and quilt and did that with her students at school and also did that while on summer vacations with her nieces and nephews.

She spent time each summer volunteering at Care and Share, a thrift store in Archbold.

Karen is survived by her parents and three siblings: Brenda (Rod) Short, Janelle (Grant) Martin, and Greg (Jodi) Nofziger.

Her niece Clarissa Short preceded her in death in 2008.

Seven nieces and nephews also survive: Ashley (Mike) Zimmerman, Lucas Nofziger, Kaitlin Nofziger, Arrin Short, Eddie Martin, Justin Nofziger, and Anita Martin. Dalton Zimmerman is Karen’s sole greatnephew.

Many friends and students whose lives she touched throughout her teaching career will greatly miss Karen.

Visitation is scheduled at North Clinton Mennonite Church, Linfoot St., Wauseon, on Wednesday, Jan. 1, from 1 to 5 p.m. A memorial service will be held at North Clinton on Thursday, Jan. 2, at 10:30 a.m. A family burial will precede the memorial service. A memorial service is pending for later at Souderton, Pa.

Suggested memorials are Care and Share Thrift Shop, Archbold, Penn View Christian School, Souderton, Pa., or to donor’s choice.
