JV Baseball Ends Strong

After a slow start to the season, the Archbold junior varsity baseball team finished strong. The Streaks won their final two games to finish the season with an 11-12 record.

Corey Wyse ripped four hits and Trey Westrick had three to power AHS past Napoleon 11-3, Tuesday, May 13. Wyse, the team’s leading hitter with a .438 batting average, had two doubles and drove in two runs.

Westrick hit two doubles also, and had three runs batted in. Bobby Rodriguez smacked a double and drove in two runs to help the offense. Ben Miller and Wyse combined on the mound for a two-hitter, allowing only one hit each. It was Miller’s team-leading fourth win.

The Streaks finished the season, Friday, May 16, by dumping Antwerp, 12-1. Shem Neuenschwander picked up his third win by not allowing an earned run in four strong innings. Aaron Bontrager protected the lead with one inning of relief.

Bontrager and Westrick smacked two hits. Jared Leininger had a double and an RBI, while Zac Grosjean collected a hit to finish the season over .400, at .410.

Catcher Drew Smith ended up as the team’s leading RBI man with 28.

Other team members were Tyler Appel, Garrett Morton, Drew Ginn, Aaron Bernath, and Aaron Wyse.
