An Archbold police officer had occasion to warn a boy that starting fires was both not wise and unacceptable behavior.
The officer was told of the juvenile setting fires to paper towels near the restrooms at Woodland Park at about 3:27 pm, Sunday, Sept. 10. When the officer arrived at the park, the youth’s mother was already there.
“The juvenile was advised that this action was not wise and his behavior was unacceptable, and I turned him over to his mother,” the officer wrote in his report.
The case is marked closed.
In a related incident, an officer was flagged down by Darlene R. Schweinhagen, 71, 602 Pleasant Street, about 7:39 pm, Thursday, Sept. 14.
Schweinhagen told officers she heard something hit her house. She observed two youths walking away and provided a description to officers.
The officer located both boys. One admitted to throwing a rock at a stop sign, hitting the house. The second said he threw a paper cup into her yard.
The youths were returned to Schweinhagen’s property, where they picked up the cup and apologized to her. Their parents were notified.
