The Archbold Junior Acme team earned a berth in the state tournament by finishing as runners-up in the North regional tournament at Archbold, Sunday, July 14.

The Streaks won the sectional/ district championship with 5-3 and 11-10 victories over Napoleon at Napoleon, Thursday, July 11, to advance to the regional for the second straight year.

Archbold 6, Perrysburg 3

Archbold scored three runs in the second inning on its way to a 6-3 regional quarterfinal win over Perrysburg, Saturday, July 13.

Perrysburg closed the gap in the fourth with two runs, but the Streaks came back and scored twice in the fifth.

Both teams scored single runs in the sixth for the 6-3 final.

Ben Bucklew pitched a complete game. In seven innings he allowed three runs on nine hits, struck out two, and walked three.

Archbold had five hits, including a double by Ian Radabaugh and singles by Derek Walker (with two runs batted in), Elijah Robison, C.J. Brubaker, and Mitchell Hogrefe (with one RBI).

Anthony Wayne 2, Archbold 1

Anthony Wayne defeated the Streaks 2-1 in a regional semifinal, Saturday, July 13.

Archbold led 1-0 after the first inning, but the Generals scored two runs in the sixth to advance to the finals.

Lathon Babcock was the starting pitcher for Archbold. In five innings he allowed no runs on no hits, struck out five, and walked four.

Robison pitched in relief. In two innings he allowed two runs on three hits, walked two, and struck out none.

Archbold had singles from Robison, Seth Mayer, Bucklew, Radabaugh, and Logan Hogrefe.

Archbold 5, Perrysburg 2

Perrysburg led 1-0 after three innings. The Streaks scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning while Perrysburg scored its final run in the bottom of the inning to get within one, 3-2.

Archbold scored single runs in the fourth and fifth to win the consolation bracket 5-2, Sunday, July 14.

Walker pitched three innings, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out two and walking four. Robison pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up no runs on one hit, striking out three and walking one.

Bucklew threw 1 1/3 innings and allowed no runs on one hit, struck out three and walked two.

Archbold bats pounded out 11 hits, all singles. Bucklew, Mayer, Radabaugh, M. Hogrefe, and L. Hogrefe each had two, while Robison had one.

M. Hogrefe had two RBIs; Brubaker had one.

Anthony Wayne 7, Archbold 4

Anthony Wayne won the regional title with a 7-4 win over Archbold in the championship game, Sunday, July 14.

Archbold led 1-0 after one, but the Generals scored four runs in the second. Anthony Wayne scored twice in the top of the fourth for a 6-1 advantage.

The Streaks scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and two in the sixth to get within two, 6-4, but Anthony Wayne scored once in the seventh for the 7-4 final.

Hayden Galvan pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on four hits, striking out one, and walking four.

Justin Coffey pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on one hit, striking out two, and walking none.

The Streaks finished with 10 hits. Walker, Galvan, and Radabaugh each had two hits, while M. Hogrefe, L. Hogrefe, Babcock, and Isaac Petersen each had one.

Galvan and Petersen each had an RBI.

State Tournament

Anthony Wayne plays Findlay in a state semifinal, Saturday, July 20, 12 pm, at Sumpter Field in Bryan.

Coldwater plays Archbold (19-7) in the other semifinal, Saturday, July 20, 2:30 pm.

The state tournament is a double elimination tournament, just as the regional and sectional/district tournaments were.

Saturday losers play in the consolation bracket, Sunday, July 21, 10 am, while the winners play at 12:30 pm.

The 12:30 pm loser plays the 10 am winner Sunday, 3 pm, in the consolation bracket.

Sunday winners play Monday, July 22, 6 pm, in the finals. If the consolation winner is victorious, they play again for the state title at 8:30 pm.
