Archbold 7th Grade Volleyball



The Archbold seventh grade volleyball team won the Northwest Ohio Athletic League tournament, Saturday, Oct. 11.

The Streaks beat Napoleon in the first match 25-17, 25-11. “It was obvious the first game that we were a little nervous,” said Coricia Meyer, coach. “The second game we did a much better job setting up our offense. Bailey Short did a nice job serving the ball, and earned seven points in the first game and 10 in the second.”

Points won on serves: Desi Newman 8, Becca Gerig 3, Jessie Walker 2, Short 17, Paige Peterson 1, Kayla Leaser 2.

Archbold defeated Delta in the semifinals 25-15, 21-25, 25-16. “The girls did a great job staying fired up after losing game two,” said the coach. “This led to a solid game-three performance to put us in the championship game. Becca Gerig had a great all-around performance. Joslyn Reisinger did a nice job coming off of the bench, passing and playing defense in the back row.”

Points won on serves: Newman 9, Gerig 19, Walker 3, Short 3, Peterson 5, Leaser 4.

The Streaks beat Evergreen in the championship match 25-14, 25-9. “In the championship game we took on undefeated Evergreen. We looked solid right from the beginning and put together everything we had learned all season,” said Meyer.

“Kayla Leaser had her best game of the season, and Becca Gerig dominated at the net. We were able to avenge both of our season losses in the tournament. I am very proud of the progress my girls made this year.”
