Isaac Cisneros scored in the first half off of a pass from Brett Coopshaw. With less then three minutes left, Felipe Chavez drilled in the equalizer after receiving a throw-in from Elise Hartzler.

Archbold 8th Grade Volleyball

Archbold lost to Swanton 25-22, 25-23, Tuesday, Sept. 15. “Swanton played well and we stayed with them, but I don’t feel we played up to our potential. We just made silly mistakes,” said Dina Gladieux, head coach.

Archbold played Patrick Henry, Thursday, Sept. 17. “This was the team that beat these girls as seventh graders in the regular season and in the championship match last season,” said Gladieux. “They have a lot of height going for them.

“Our girls came out with a goal and at the end of the match they achieved their goal, winning 25-17, 23-25, 25-18. I was pleased with how they kept the ball in play and continued to run our offense.

“In fact, the last play of the match we had a pass and as the ball was headed to the setter I saw the defenders go to double block our strong-side hitter when the setter gave it to Marli (Cheney), who was hitting weak side, and she had a picture-perfect kill to end the match. The set was by Chloe Schramm.

“Anytime you can ‘trick’ your opponent so you have an uncontested attack it is fun to watch.”

Archbold is 4-3 on the season.
