Pettisville Soccer

The Blackbirds faced off against Emmanuel Christian, Monday, Sept. 24, for the second time this year. Seeking to avenge an early season loss, the Birds attacked quickly.

Less then three minutes in, Levi Nofzinger took a through pass from Landon Roth and scored for a 1-0 lead. Pettisville maintained the lead until midway through the second half, when the Warriors were able to get behind the Bird defense and score the tying goal.

With six minutes left, Gabe Beck drove through the middle of the defense and placed a nice pass to Roth, who beat the keeper with a shot inside the far post. The Pettisville defense remained strong and the Birds came away with 2-1 victory.

The Birds traveled to Monclova, Tuesday, Sept. 25, and faced a much-improved Monclova Christian team. In the first match earlier this season, the Birds won 5-2 at home. This match proved to be much different with the Blackbirds entering halftime down 1-0.

Early in the second half, Garrett Young placed a solid shot past the Monclova keeper to tie the score. The Blackbird offense created several very good scoring opportunities but was unable to connect and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
