Archbold 8th Grade Boys Basketball

Wauseon capped a 16-1 season by nipping Archbold 39-38, Saturday, Feb. 12, in the championship game of the junior high tournament at Montpelier.

The Streaks, who finished 15-2, gave the Indians their only loss early in the regular season.

Luke Fisher was the only Blue Streak in double figures with 10 points, as turnovers and poor shooting plagued Archbold. The Streaks led 29-22 after three quarters, only to surrender 17 fourth-quarter points.

Archbold started the tournament in convincing fashion, steamrolling Napoleon 60-36, Tuesday, Feb 8. Excellent passing and teamwork led to four players scoring in double figures. Grant Rupp led the way with 15 points. Levi Wyse had 14; Brandon Goering, 11; and Fisher, 10.

Holding off a determined Delta team, the Streaks won 39-32 in the semifinals, Thursday, Feb. 10. Wyse and Fisher had 13 and 10 points, respectively. Goering, Rupp, and Gavin Morton combined for 16 more.

Other team members: Matt Sevey, Logan Hogrefe, Aaron Zimmerman, Jackson Waidelich, and Stephan Manahan. Managers were Jack Fisher and Jonah Waidelich.

Pettisville 7th Grade Boys Basketball

BBC Tournament: Fayette def. Pettisville 47-28, Saturday, Feb. 5. Leading scorer: Kyle Lantz, 18 points.
