Archbold 7th Grade
Boys Basketball

Archbold hit the road for its first two games of the season. The Streaks traveled to Stryker, Tuesday, Dec. 7. Archbold’s defense set the tone, and the Streaks built a 12-0 lead after one quarter. Archbold outscored the Panthers in every quarter to pull away with a convincing 51-7 victory.

Eleven players hit the scoring column. Benny Gomez and Derek Walker combined for 21 points; Jeremy Lerma and Jacob Rodriguez each contributed 6. Matt Kinsman led the way on the defensive end.

The Streaks battled Napoleon, Thursday, Dec. 9. Archbold jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead, but foul trouble and cold shooting the rest of the first quarter had the Streaks down 9-5. Archbold continued to struggle until Derek Walker came up with three straight steals and conversions.

With momentum on their side, the Streaks went into the locker room with a five-point lead. Archbold came away with a hard-fought 40-28 victory. Walker led the way with 15. Mike Weigand and Elijah Robison combined for 10.

Boys Basketball

Archbold opened the season with two wins. Down by three points in the third quarter at Stryker, Tuesday, Dec. 7, the Streaks outscored the Panthers 16-1 in the fourth quarter to win 42-23. Stryker’s Parker Ruffer led all scorers, tallying 16 points. Gavin Morton led Archbold with 14; Luke Fisher and Grant Rupp combined for 19. Brandon Goering, Levi Wyse, and Logan Hogrefe also scored.

The Blue Streaks were down by six at the end of the third quarter at Napoleon, Thursday, Dec. 9, before mounting another comeback to win 41-33. Napoleon’s Blake Dunbar fired in 16 first-half points before Wyse and the Streak defense shut him down in the second half, not allowing him a single point.

Fisher powered his way to 15 hard-earned points. Grant Rupp tallied 8, including some crucial free throws at crunch time. Hogrefe, Morton, Goering, Wyse, and Stephan Manahan added to the final total.
