Irene M. Britsch





Irene M. Britsch, age 93 years, of Archbold, passed away early Saturday morning, May 31, 2008, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, where she had resided the past 4 1/2 years.

She was born Sept. 10, 1914, near Archbold, a daughter of William and Dinah (Roth) Wyse. She married Olen Britsch on Nov. 25, 1937, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1978.

She lived most of her lifetime in the Archbold area, and was a homemaker. She did volunteer work for the Fulton County Health Center, Meals on Wheels, Fulton County Cancer Society, Fairlawn Haven, and The Gideons Auxiliary. She assisted with church planting at Bancroft Mennonite Church (now Toledo Mennonite) for over 30 years, and was a member of Zion Mennonite Church in Archbold.

She is survived by one son, Calvin (Cheryl) Britsch of Archbold; one daughter, Maretta (Arlin) Buller of North Newton, Kan.; five grandchildren; four sisters, Stella Crossgrove, Lucille Crossgrove, and Marjorie (Lester) Nafziger, all of Archbold, and Lodema Nafziger of Pettisville; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Wyse, Meredith Beck and Doris Britsch, all of Archbold.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Wilbur Wyse.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Zion Mennonite Church with Pastors Mona Sauder and Sherm Kauffman officiating. Interment preceded in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Short Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

The family suggests that memorials be given to Fairlawn Haven or Goshen College.
