Irene Hahn Named Fairlawn Resident Of The Month





Irene M. Hahn is the Fairlawn Haven September resident of the month.

Hahn was born to Guy and Grace Fidler on Dec. 10, 1920, in Holgate.

She had three sisters and one brother.

Hahn attended eight grades at St. Augustine School, Napoleon. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1938.

Hahn met her future husband, Kenneth, at the skating rink, one of her favorite pastimes, and they were married on Nov. 16, 1946. They lived in Napoleon and later moved to a farm on the Henry/Fulton County line.

They had two daughters, Rita Kruse and Mary Anne Grime. When the girls were in the middle grades, the family moved into a new house on DeGroff Street in Archbold.

Hahn enjoyed being a mother and homemaker. At one point she worked part-time in housekeeping at Arch Motel. Her husband loved to go fishing on the Maumee River and Lake Erie. Many weekends and vacations were spent at Lake Erie. In 1969, her husband drowned in a boating accident on Lake Erie.

Over the years, Hahn also worked in several factories. She was involved in the Dilly Dally craft club and American Legion Auxiliary. Over the years, she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, raising flowers, crocheting, knitting, counted cross-stitch and making Christmas decorations. She attended St. Peter Catholic Church, Archbold.

Hahn has two granddaughters, Krista and Kyla Kruse. She moved to Fairlawn Haven in November 2005 from a Fairlawn apartment.
