Investment Firm Buys Former Shopko Building

Bruce Roth, Toledo, president of RMP Investments, confirmed the company has purchased the former Shopko building in Archbold.

Bids for the building were taken via the Internet; bidding ended Aug. 9.

Roth said RMP will close on the property, Monday, Sept. 11.

RMP plans to market the building to other businesses, “sale, lease, or build to suit,” Roth said.

“We think it’s a very nice building. We think we’ve got great opportunity with it.”

He declined to disclose the purchase price.

A rumor said a manufacturing operation would move into the building.

“I was contacted by a guy that is interested in putting in a manufacturing facility. He’s a local guy; I guess he manufactures and distributes Christian products,” Roth said.

“We don’t have any agreements or anything like that, but he does have an interest in the building.

“From what I know of the town, and I have some employees from another company who live there, that town could use a real nice little grocery store. That was a thought that crossed my mind.

“We don’t really have plans at this point. We’re going to clean it up and make it look real nice.

“I think Archbold is a great town. I can assure you, anybody we strike a deal with, I’ll make sure they have a good interest in the town.”-Posted 8.25, 4:37 pm
