Investigate Shotgun Theft

Archbold police are investigating the theft of a pump-action shotgun from an Archbold home, Monday, Nov. 11.

The police report states between 9 am and 11 am, someone broke a back window at the home of Clarence Bernath, 406 Park Street, to gain access to the home. The house was locked.

Once inside, the thief removed the shotgun. It is not known if any other items were taken.

Martin Schmidt, Archbold police chief, said officers have processed the crime scene and recovered some evidence.

When asked if he was concerned about the missing shotgun, Schmidt said, "No more so than I am about any weapon in the hands of someone who shouldn’t have them."
