Kent D. Reichert, 60, Wauseon, a former custodian at Leggett Street Primary School, Wauseon, has been indicted for alleged sex crimes by the Fulton County Grand Jury.
A press release from Scott A. Haselman, Fulton County prosecuting attorney, states Reichert was indicted "on one count of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition."
"It is alleged that between March 2000 and June 2000, he engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13."
Marc Robinson, superintendent of the Wauseon Exempted Village School District, released a statement on the case, noting school district officials were made aware of the charges against Reichert in November 2008.
"Upon receipt of the complaint, Mr. Reichert was placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation by the school district and the (Fulton County) Sheriff Department."
"It is the policy of the Board of Education to refrain from discussing specific details on matters pertaining to personnel. As such, the Board of Education has no further comment at this time."
The Wauseon School Board held a special meeting, Friday, Jan. 16.
Robinson said after meeting in closed-door session for about 15 minutes, the board accepted Reichert’s resignation from his custodian job.
The resignation was not tendered in return for any compensation or "deal," Robinson said.
Robinson said Reichert had been on administrative leave offi cials since Nov. 5; he continued to receive a paycheck from the Wauseon school district during his administrative leave.
Reichert is free on a personal recognizance bond.
