Jim Wyse, Archbold mayor, said Monday, Jan. 28, the village of Archbold income tax has brought in $100 million since collections started in 1967.
Speaking to the Archbold Area Chamber of Commerce during his annual State of the Village address, Wyse said the village crossed the $100 million mark sometime in the preceding two weeks.
Wyse said when the tax was originally put in place, village officials just wanted $100,000 to build a new street, because no new streets had been built for 50 years.
“We’ve built plenty of streets in the last 50 years. Our infrastructure is topnotch. It’s second to none,” he said.
