A combination of wet weather and freezing temperatures made Fulton County roads icy Monday, Nov. 24, resulting in 20 crashes in two hours.

Crash reports started coming in around 8 am.

Andy Brodbeck, Archbold Fire Department chief, said Archbold rescue units responded to four mishaps. None of the injuries were serious, he said.

“It was just cold enough” to cause ice on the roadway, he said.

Archbold Rescue had been out earlier that morning, and “it was not that slippery,” he said.

Many sheriff reports spoke of “black ice,” a thin, almost invisible, coating of ice on roadways.

Sheriff deputies responded to several crashes in the area.
