Henry County Has First COVID-19 Death


A man in his 80s has become the first person in Henry County to die as a result of COVID-19.

In a press release, Henry County Health Department officials announced, “It is with great sadness, Henry County Health Department  is confirming the first death of a Henry County resident due to COVID-19.

“The deceased individual is a male in his 80s. No further information will be provided in order to protect personal privacy.

“‘We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of this resident,’ stated Mark Adams, Henry County health commissioner.

“‘This is an unfortunate reminder of how serious COVID-19 can be and why it’s so important to continue following public health guidance to prevent this virus from spreading.'” Adams said in the release.

As of July 27, 90 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in Henry County.

The release states, “The majority of cases in Henry County are not related, and therefore considered community spread, meaning the virus is circulating throughout the county.”–posted 5:15 pm July 27, 2019
