Helen Marie (Potts) Grisier

Helen Marie (Potts) Grisier, age 81, of Stryker, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at CHP-Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.
Along with her husband, Fred, they owned and operated the Grisier Funeral Homes for nearly 50 years.
Helen was born in Defiance on April 20, 1938, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Shisler) Potts.
On Sept. 1, 1956, she married Frederick W. Grisier, and they were blessed to have 62 years of marriage.
She was a member of the Stryker United Methodist Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher for many years, sang in the choir, led singing during worship, and led the children’s choir for many years.
She was also a past president and member of the Stryker Friends of the Library, and was a past board member for the Stryker Chamber of Commerce.
Her most meaningful role has been serving as the matriarch of the Grisier family for generations. Raising her family was her love, and she enjoyed the confusion of the house as friends were constantly coming in and out.
She always prepared meals for more than her family because there were always guests, and affectionately referred to our home as Grand Central Station.
Surviving are her husband, Fred; sons, Marc (Debora) Grisier of Toledo, Todd (Sabrina) Grisier of Archbold, Scott (Cheryl) Grisier of Wauseon, daughter-in-law, Gwen Grisier of Archbold; grandchildren, Christian Grisier, Grant (Jessica) Grisier, Emily (Caleb) Turnbull, Colin Grisier, Luke Grisier, Adam Grisier, Cole Grisier; great-grandchildren, Ellis and Lettie Turnbull.
She is also survived by sisters, Nancy Noffsinger of Defiance and Susan (Stephen) Miller of Defiance; sisters-in-law, Sharon Potts of Defiance, Phyllis (Grisier) Reed of Centerville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eric Grisier; granddaughter, Chelsey Grisier; brother, Thomas Potts, and brother-in-law, Larry Noffsinger.
Visitation for Helen will be held from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at the Stryker United Methodist Church, 301 Cherry St., Stryker, Ohio 43557. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, also at the church, with Pastor Bill Priest officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Stryker.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Stryker United Methodist Church or CHP-Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.
Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker has been entrusted with arrangements.–Posted 5.5, 2:35 pm
