Harold L. Schnitkey, age 88 years, of Stryker, passed away Thursday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2012, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
He was born Jan. 3, 1924, near Ridgeville Corners, the son of John and Laura (Schumaker) Schnitkey, and married Jean (Beltz) Pace on Oct. 6, 1956.
He lived his entire life on the same farm and was a farmer and enjoyed woodworking.
He was an Army Veteran of WWII.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, located at the corner of Routes 6 & 66.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; three sons, Lowell (Sharon) Schnitkey of Montpelier, Norman (Jean) Schnitkey of Wauseon, and Edwin (Lee) Schnitkey of Ridgeville Corners; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lois Sigg; and a stepson, Jeff Pace.
Services were held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Kern officiating. Interment followed in the St. John Cemetery with military rites by Ridgeville Corners American Legion Post #454.
The family suggests that memorials be given to St. John’s Bell Fund.
