Grand, Reserve Champion Titles Go To Archbold, Pettisville Kids




Several youth from the Archbold and Pettisville areas earned awards in the Fulton County Junior Fair Competition.

Lucas Nofziger, son of Greg and Jodi, Pettisville, showed the grand champion steer, and the grand champion born-andraised steer. He was also the winner of the beef steer showmanship class for ages 16 and older.

Lucas also had the reserve champion rate of gain steer in the rate of gain carcass contest.

Josh Bruner, son of Mark and Jane, Pettisville, was the reserve champion steer winner.

Austin Borton, son of Gary and Carol Borton, Pettisville, showed the grand champion dairy steer.

Tanner Rufenacht, Pettisville, showed the grand champion dairy feeder calf.

The reserve champion title went to Jaelyn Rufenacht, along with the showmanship title for ages eight and nine. There was no scholarship in that particular showmanship class.

Tanner and Jaelyn are the children of Brad and Tina.

Rabbit Winner

Hannah Roth, daughter of Lisa and Brent, Archbold, showed the grand champion breed rabbit, and won showmanship for nine-year-old youngsters.

Matthew Kinsman, son of Rodney and Joyce, rural Archbold, showed the reserve champion born and raised steer. Justin Rupp, son of Steve and Chris, had the reserve champion dairy steer.

Archbold youth also were represented in hog competition. Ashley Double, daughter of Troy and Julie, won hog showmanship for 16 year olds. Justin Pursel, son of Jason and Karla, was the 12-year-old showmanship winner.

Justin also won the reserve champion lightweight hog title, while Jordyn Pursel, another child of Jason and Karla, showed the reserve champion heavyweight hog.

Skill-a-thon

In the swine skill-a-thon, a test of knowledge, Brad King, son of Duane and Jennifer King, Pettisville, was the senior division winner.

Carley Wyse, daughter of Mark and Julie, Archbold, won intermediate division.

The reserve champion rate of gain carcass title went to Adrian Bruner, child of Mark and Jane, Pettisville.
