Grace June New, age 78 years, of Archbold, passed away Saturday evening, Oct. 14, 2017, at Fairlawn Haven Care Center in Archbold. She was born April 24, 1939, at Ghent, Minn., the daughter of George and Frances (Miller) Lawson. Grace was raised in Marshall, Minn., in a big Catholic family. She was one of 14 children. She married Charles New in 1982 and lived in Archbold many years. Her faith, family and friends were most important to her. Prior to her retirement, she worked at ITT Higbie. Grace was an avid reader and loved flowers. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Archbold, where she served on the funeral committee and was a CCD teacher. She is survived by her husband, Charles; three children, Thomas Young and Susan (John) Grieser, both of Archbold, and Donald (Sheryl) Young of Hamilton, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Sue Ann (Darwin) Junge of Napoleon; nine grandchildren, Jason Young, Lynn (Young) Clanton, Natalie (Grieser) Burkhardt, Andrea (Grieser) Tijerina, Donnie Young, Stacy (Young) Lammers, Danny Young, Jacob Junge and Sarah Junge; eight great-grandchildren, Austin Young, Casey Clanton, Kailee Clanton, Christian Clanton, Khloe Clanton, Aria Tijerina, Ava Tijerina and Ella Lammers; and two sisters, Roxie Collin of Huron Lake, Minn., and Connie Bonner of Rockwood, Mich. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Paul Young; two infant daughters, Lydia Louise and Donna June Young; and 11 siblings. Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Stephen Stanbery officiating. Interment will follow in the Archbold Cemetery. Friends may call at St. Peter Catholic Church from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements.
