Gohram-Fayette Teacher Indicted On Sex Crime

Tabatha Fidler, 37, a health and physical education teacher at Gorham-Fayette High School, has been indicted by a Williams County Grand Jury for allegedly engaging in sexual conduct with a student.

Thomas A. Thompson, Williams County prosecuting attorney, said Fidler was indicted on one count of sexual battery on Wednesday, March 26.

The indictment alleges that on or about June 8 or 9, 2007, Fidler engaged in sexual conduct with the victim, a boy who was 16 at the time of the incident. The youth was allegedly a Gorham-Fayette student.

Allegedly, the incident took place in Montpelier, where Fidler resides.

Gorham-Fayette School District officials placed Fidler on administrative leave.

If convicted, she faces the possibility of one to five years in prison, but may be eligible for community control. She would be classified as a sexual offender.

If convicted, she faces the loss of her teaching credentials.
