Katrina Gobrogge was the lone Archbold cross country member running at the Division III regional meet at Tiffin, Saturday, Oct. 27.
Despite running on two stress-fractured legs, Gobrogge finished 54th in 21 minutes, 47 seconds.
Gibsonburg’s Ashley Fisher won in 18:59.
“At the Archbold-Liberty Center football game, a lot of the members of the community came up to me to wish me good luck at the race,” said Gobrogge. “I appreciated the support as I was going into an important race.”
“Katrina ran very well on a course that every year challeng- es our runners with more hills than we see all year, even at the state meet,” said Mike Wachtmann, AHS coach.
“Her time came close to her 2005 performance, which was among the best girls time on that course for Archbold in years.
“She had been restricted to non-impact training for much of the season, so transitioning from her stationary workouts to this difficult regional course is even more impressive. Cross country will certainly miss this senior next year, but I expect that she’ll yet be a force on the track this spring.”
“I will really miss Archbold cross county and all the fun times I had with my team and coach Wachtmann,” said Gobrogge.
“But now I am focusing on healing and gearing up for track next spring.”
