Rachel Giovarelli, PHS ‘08, placed third in the annual Bluffton University C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Contest, Wednesday, March 28.
A senior, she is the daughter of Glenn and Shirley, rural Wauseon. She earned a $100 cash prize for her finish.
Her topic was “Finding Peace in Our Differences: Reconnecting as the Body of Christ.”
She won the contest last year and went on to place third in the binational competition.
Students in the Bluffton contest give a speech of no more than 10 minutes that applies the Christian peace position to an issue of contemporary concern.
