Gerald E. "Jerry" Turner
Gerald E. "Jerry" Turner, 85, Wauseon, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 surrounded by his family at his home in rural Wauseon.
He was born June 6, 1923 in Adrian, Mich., the son of Earl and Herndon (Hammel) Turner. In 1975 he married Sandra Steward, who survives.
He was formerly employed at German Village Products of Wauseon for 24 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Wauseon.
He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII and was a member of the Wauseon American Legion Post.
He is also survived by four stepdaughters, Roberta (John) Law of Chicago,Ill.; Glenda (Charles) Merrick of Deshler; Rita (Paul) Harpring of Delta; Dawn (Brett) Kolb of Wauseon; and one stepson, Leo (Cindy) York of Pioneer; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; and three great-step-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were both parents; sister Jeanette Peters of Colorado; son Jerry Lee Turner of Morenci, Mich.; daughter Diana Weber of Archbold.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 at the First Christian Church in Wauseon, with Pastor Mitch Maxted and Pastor Mary Jo Bray, officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Gove Cemetery in Morenci, Mich.
Friends may call at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Fulton County Health Center or Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.
