Fun Near Home On Tank Of Gas

Millions of Americans are angry because of through-the-roof gas prices. There are many vacation opportunities near home.

Americans can find numerous economical, fun, and relaxing places to visit within one tank of gas.

Local residents can travel a few blocks to enjoy some of the finest small-town parks in America. Our tiny neighborhood parks of Ruihley, Memorial, and Woodland, the largest, provide good opportunities with acres of land for the family.

Drive a short distance from Archbold to enjoy a walk through Goll Woods, a state forest preserve along the Tiffin River. Large, original virgin trees are still visible in the woods.

Sauder Village, an outstanding Ohio historical village, is just over a mile from downtown Archbold. There are many historical buildings, costumed guides, a railroad train, horse-drawn wagon, and much more. Visitors need more than a day to see what the Village has to offer. With its food service and excellent lodging, the Village can serve all travelers.

A little more gas takes you to Harrison Lake State Park, southwest of Fayette; the Toledo Zoo; Toledo Museum of Art; Independence Dam State Park, near Defiance; and Oak Openings nature preserve, near Toledo.

Heading further east to the Lake Erie vacation region, the Cedar Point amusement park attracts thousands of visitors every summer. Small wineries, historic lodging and eating establishments are part of the Lake Erie/North Coast vacation region.

A vacation in Northwest Ohio is probably affordable to most everyone, with less than a tank of gasoline.
