Fulton County Unemployment Up 1.5% In Jan.

Fulton County unemployment in January was 8.1%, up 1.5 percentage points from December, when unemployment was 6.6%

In November 2007, unemployment was 5.4%, according to Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

None of the other counties in the four counties of Fulton, Defiance, Henry, Williams were above 8%.

There were 23,300 persons in Fulton County’s labor force, 21,400 were employed, 1,900 out of work.

None of the four counties had less than 1,200 people out of a job during January; Williams and Henry counties each had 1,200 seeking employment. ODJFS estimated 1,300 were looking for work in January in Defiance County.

Morgan County, in southeastern Ohio, had the highest unemployment rate in January; 11.7% of the labor force was out of a job.

Another six counties were in double-digits.
