Fulton County Fair Adds New Restrooms From Used Parts

The Fulton County Fair Board knows how to make a dollar stretch.

Jeanne Johnson, board secretary, said the board constructed a new restroom and shower facility at the fairgrounds for about $150.

The new building is on the north end of the fairgrounds, near the horse arena.

The board was able to finish the job for so little by using donated and used materials and volunteer labor.

Fixtures came from the Elm Street and Burr Road schools in Wauseon, which were demolished earlier this year.

“We took everything we could get,” Johnson said. “The partitions are being repainted. They’ll look like new.”

Area companies donated concrete, concrete blocks, and other building materials.

Members of the fair board and other volunteers are doing the work.

“We’re planning on having it open for the fair,” Johnson said.

Over the rest of the fairgrounds, Johnson said some underground drainage work has been completed, which she described as “stuff that doesn’t show.”

She said the fairgrounds will be ready by fair time, which starts Friday, Sept. 3.
