Frey Wins In Karts; Huffman Locks Points Races




Mark Frey, Archbold, won a senior econo class kart race at Jackson, Mich., Saturday, Sept. 22, while John Huffman, Archbold, has clinched season championships at two tracks.

Mark Frey led a first-throughfifth sweep for Archbold, Pettisville, or formerly-of-Archbold racers.

Logan Wyse, Archbold, was second. Mark Frey got by him for the win, after Wyse led 14 of the 20 laps.

Danielle Frey, Pettisville, was third, followed by Vance Nofziger, Pandora-Gilboa, formerly of Archbold, and Tyler Herschberger, 12, Pettisville.

Wyse set fast time in qualifying, while Danielle Frey won the senior econo heat race.

Wyse was second in the heat, followed by Nofziger, Mark Frey, and Herschberger. Mark Frey was second fastest in qualifications, followed by Danielle Frey, Nofziger, and Herschberger.

Huffman

Veteran racer John Huffman swept the stock heavy class at Jackson, clinching the season points championship for the class. He also has earned the points championship in the stock 400 class at Fremont.

Jeremy Mann, 11, Archbold, set fast time in junior econo class qualifying, and finished second in the heat and feature.

Huffman said Mann has all but clinched the season points championship in his class; he has second for sure.

Dirt

There were two nights of racing on the dirt oval at Edon.

Running in junior gold restrictor plate Saturday night, Sept. 22, Kyle DeKnight, 12, Pettisville, was ninth in the feature.

Kyle Beck, 12, Pettisville, was fifth.

Marissa Beck, 9, Pettisville, was third in junior sportsman novice.

DeKnight was back in action Sunday, Sept. 23, again in junior restricted gold, finishing third in the feature.

Graeme Short 9, Archbold, was seventh in the junior restricted purple plate class feature on Sunday.

Mini Sprints

In mini-sprints, Short qualified his racer fifth fastest, while Herschberger was seventh. Short finished the heat race in third, while Herschberger was fourth.

In the feature event, Short finished fourth, while Herschberger was sixth.
