Four Supplemental Contracts Approved



The Archbold Area School Board approved four supplemental contracts during its Monday, Aug. 16 meeting.

Donovan Ziegler was granted a one-year supplemental contract as an assistant marching band instructor for the 2010-11 school year.

Karen Ringenberg and Brian Becher were granted one-year supplemental contracts to serve on the district Local Professional Development Committee for 2010- 11. The committee deals with licensing and professional development issues for district teachers.

Andi Nafziger was granted a one-year supplemental contract to serve as the middle school student council advisor for 2010-11.

The board also approved Bret Cordy as a volunteer coach. He will coach eighth grade football.

Approval was granted for nine members of the district’s staff to attend software training. They are Andrea Badenhop, Laura Bickel, Cindy Clark, Ben Gericke, Brent Gnagey, Lori Luderman, Julie Nofziger, Ryan Throne, and Kim Walker.

Donation

The board accepted a $1,500 donation from the Archbold Rotary Club to purchase a smart board. A smart board acts like a classroom chalkboard or dry-erase board, but also connects to computers.

The unit will be installed in one of the elementary school classrooms.

The board also approved the substitute teacher list prepared by the Northwest Ohio Educational Service center for 2010-11, and approved meeting minutes from the July 19 regular meeting and the Aug. 9 special meeting, plus the July 2010 financial reports.

The board approved a contract with the Wood County Juvenile Detention Center for education services for the 2010-11 school year.

Abstain

Scott Miller, board president, abstained on a vote on approving Farmers & Merchants State Bank as a provider for Health Savings Accounts for district staff.

Miller is an F&M employee.

Phil Nofziger, a school board member, was absent.

The next board meeting is Monday, Sept. 13, 7:30 pm, in the high school media center. The date is one week earlier than usual.–David Pugh
